What are Architects up to in LA?
The new Lumière at Malcolm building, designed by the acclaimed Californian architect William Hefner, is a residential development in Westwood, a western suburb of Los Angeles.
Its distinctly contemporary architectural design features large outdoor spaces and quality finished interiors that exude an aura of sophisticated luxury – a signature trait of Hefner’s work. What is apparent in the building design is the wide use of large format tile and Italian ceramic surfaces throughout. An elegant Statuario White in bathrooms for example, enhances the allure of interiors by interpreting marble as an emblem of elegance.
Porcelain tiles of cohesive aesthetics alongside outstanding technical performance create inviting spaces on terraces and swimming pool areas perfect for enjoyment and relaxation. Marble-look porcelain features throughout, as does large format flooring in a textured, irregular and varied hue typical of sedimentary stone.
Of interest, porcelain also features in the custom-made vanities - a trend we are seeing becoming prevalent in NZ for those wanting quality finishes, originality and high design. Tile Warehouse have embraced this trend now offering custom vanities and shelving in a myriad of stunning porcelain colourways and style.
